FROM AUGUST 2016 to June 2018, my family and I lived in Machakos, a town of about 150,000 people about 30miles south east of Nairobi, Kenya. One morning I went out at the break of dawn to capture the first activities of the day. My friend, Brian, who owns a motorbike taxi, known as a Boda Boda, took me around.
The most amazing thing for me was how, as early as 5am, children are out on the road, making their way to school. In my home country, Zimbabwe, many kids find their own way to school too and some do set out very early, but not normally as early as this.
